In the same way, the United Kingdom also have their own independent agency which is responsible for efficient management of intellectual property rights. The Intellectual Property Office of the United Kingdom was institutionalized and inaugurated on the 2nd of April 2007 and has its headquarters at Chancery Lane, London. It is an official government agency that is responsible for the management of intellectual property rights in the United Kingdom and has been formed under the domain of the executive sector i.e., Department of Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy.
The primary intent and responsibility of the patents include all the work related to the administration and management of intellectual property rights. It is responsible for the issuance and rejection of patents related to inventions and innovations, registration of trademarks and designs. Secondly, it also has been accorded with the duty for the maintenance of the registers and all other documents related to patents, designs, and trademarks. However, the office is not responsible for the statutory registration of copyright and also does not conduct any direct administration and registration of the matters related to copyright.
